The Money Edge is an established and progressive accounting firm passionate about Agribusiness and Small to Medium Businesses. We are seeking a Senior Tax Accountant to join our team.

About the role
We are based in beautiful Bundaberg. You will be working from our office in a permanent full-time position. There is onsite car parking available. We base our business practices on our professionalism, integrity, communication and accountability to our clients and one another.

To be successful in this role, you must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. You must also have excellent organisational and time management skills, have the ability to meet deadlines, effectively prioritise work, quickly resolve issues and have a strong work ethic.

We require a dedicated and professional person who is a current CPA, CA or another accounting professional body qualified member with a minimum of 3 years of Public Practice experience. You will work directly with the directors of the business and staff. This is an office-based role, and you will be a key member of our team. 
 
The skills that the position requires include, but are not limited to; 

Review other Accountant’s work and prepare Financial Statements

Reviewing work & providing mentorship to fellow team members where required 

Manage workflow, ensuring all deadlines are met 

Ability to independently process and prepare Income Tax Returns including: Company, Trust, Partnerships, SMSF and other structures 

Ability to process and prepare accurate Financial Statements 

Knowledge of technical GST issues and ability to prepare Business Activity Statements 

Knowledge of Fringe Benefits Tax, Payroll Tax and other lodgements 

A strong knowledge of Trusts, Division 7A and technical Company & Trust issues 

A strong knowledge of small business CGT concessions 

An excellent knowledge in all areas of Taxation 

Advising clients on business structures 

Project work for clients - Reporting/ Management Accountant/ Cash flow/ Budgeting/ Grant Applications 

Process improvement to minimise the risk of errors and increase efficiency 

Assist Directors with ad hoc tasks 

Liaising with the ATO, Banks, Brokers and other stakeholders for clients 

Regularly reviewing systems and making updates and improvements where necessary 

Consultancy advice; 

Analysis and advice on various taxation and accounting matters. 

Taxation planning; 

 

Skills and experience:  
We are looking for a Senior Tax Accountant with the following: 

Ability to build strong working relationships with clients and colleagues 

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)

Experience with accounting software such as XPM, Xero, MYOB and BGL would be advantageous.

Minimum of three years’ experience in public practice in a similar role 

Demonstrate an understanding of privacy and confidentiality 

Excellent time management and organisational skills 

Strong IT, AI automation and technology understanding 

Ability to work with general direction, independently and as a team member, displaying initiative and personal task management skills 

Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills to build relationships with clients and their stakeholders 

A background in agriculture and familiarity with the agricultural industry is highly desirable but not essential 

Professionally presented 

Competent & comfortable attending client premises if/when required 

Reliable vehicle & current licence 

Police clearance 

Be a self-starter who uses your initiative to make a difference! 

 

The position will be predominantly office-based; however, occasionally, you may be required to go out on-site at client premises. As such, you must have a reliable vehicle and driver's licence. 

*Note: Part of our recruitment process is to complete a 'Skills Test', but don't stress if you're a skilled accountant; you should breeze through it.
