Minimum Wage Increase 2021-22
Following the Annual Wage Review 2021, the Fair Work commission has announced a 2.5% increase to minimum wages. This will also apply to all award wages, with the award increase happening in 3 different stages.
For modern award covered employees, this increase will come into effect from the first full pay period on or after 1 July 2021, 1 September 2021, or 1 November 2021 depending on the modern award that applies.

For award free employees, this increase will come into effect from the first full pay period on or after 1 July 2021.
Sit tight, you don’t need to act yet
The Fair Work Commission will now update modern award rates of pay. When modern award rates of pay are available from the Fair Work Commission and Fair Work Ombudsman you will need to implement the changes.
It is anticipated that this will be on or after the date each modern award increases.
Unless it is specified you can continue to use your most recent 2020-21 Pay Rate Schedule until then.
This change will also affect some enterprise agreements.
