I was lucky enough to be trained as a client bookkeeper in my first job after high-school and I loved the challenge, teamwork, number-crunching and the variety of problems to solve and clients to help! I obtained a Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment and other smaller certificates until taking the plunge into a Bachelor of Accounting, and I am still working through one subject at a time, slowly and steadily.
Over the years I became a full-time mum, and gained experience in government, customer service, small business, farming and banking as we lived in various places through Central Queensland. But through all of this I missed bookkeeping.
Why? Because bookkeeping is a perfectionists dream! I love the challenge of turning a mess into a tidy and useful collection of reports to enable managers to make informed decisions and achieve their goals. And if there’s a problem, I love to work it out. I can’t resist! There is always a reason, always an answer, always a solution!
My enjoyment of maths and problem-solving was born in a small, rural primary school not far from Bundaberg, and it’s great to be back here again! It’s so nice to live near the beach and explore the coastline with my kids on weekends. I also relax by bashing away at my piano and now that I live in the world’s best climate I have created an organic garden - let's see how long I can keep it alive!
